NPD Deputy Manager

Key Responsibilities
1. RFQ & Feasibility
 Study drawings, GD&T and specifications.
 Conduct manufacturing feasibility.
 Prepare development cost estimates.
 Identify risks before business commitment.

2. New Product Development
 Drive NPD from prototype to mass production.
 Prepare APQP and project timelines.
 Coordinate with all internal functions.
 Ensure on-time milestone completion.
3. Process Development
 Develop and optimise machining processes.
 Prepare operation sequence and process parameters.
 Validate fixtures and special processes.
 Improve cycle time and process capability.
4. Tooling & Fixture Development
 Select cutting tools and tool holders.
 Coordinate tool and fixture design.
 Establish tool-life standards.
 Ensure tools are ready before production trials.
5. Quality & Validation
 Complete APQP, PPAP, PFMEA and MSA activities.
 Ensure dimensional and functional validation.
 Achieve required Cp/Cpk for critical features.
 Drive corrective actions.
6. Supplier Development
 Coordinate with suppliers for key processes.
 Review supplier feasibility.
 Follow up development timelines.
 Resolve supplier quality issues.
7. Cost & Productivity
 Develop products at the most competitive cost.
 Drive VA/VE and cost reduction initiatives.
 Reduce cycle time and tool cost.
 Consider technical and commercial viability.
8. Customer Coordination
 Clarify technical requirements.
 Participate in customer meetings.
 Submit samples as per schedule.
 Close technical queries.
9. Production Transfer
 Ensure smooth transfer to Production.
 Complete process documentation.
 Train Production and Quality teams.

 Monitor initial production runs.
Required Technical Skills
 Strong knowledge of precision machining.
 Good understanding of GD&T.
 Knowledge of CNC / VMC / HMC / Turning / Grinding.
 Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA and MSA.
 Understanding of Cp/Cpk and process capability.
 Basic knowledge of metrology and inspection.
 Cost and cycle-time analysis skills.
 ERP / MRP knowledge preferred.
Educational Qualification
BE / B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering.
Diploma may be considered for experienced candidates.
Experience
5–10 years in NPD / Product Development / Process Engineering.
Experience in precision machined components, preferably in Automotive, Aerospace, Railway, Defence,
Hydraulics, Engines or Industrial components.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
 NPD projects completed on time.
 Customer sample approval – First Time Right.
 PPA approval performance.
 Development cost vs. budget.
 Cycle-time and tool-cost reduction.
 VA/VE savings.
 Production transfer lead time.
 Cp/Cpk of critical characteristics.
 No major issues after production launch.
Key Expectation
The candidate must independently drive the complete project from drawing / RFQ to successful mass
production with a strong Design for Manufacturing / Cost / Quality / Delivery approach. No product should be
accepted for development without proper technical and commercial feasibility.
