Android Developer – HMI

Role Summary
We are looking for an Android Developer to work on vehicle HMI, Android Auto integration, media/audio features, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, and production-level debugging. The candidate should be strong in Android application development and should have hands-on experience debugging media, audio latency, connectivity, and performance issues on Android-based automotive platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain Android HMI applications for vehicle cluster / infotainment systems.
• Work on Android Auto integration, validation, and issue debugging.
• Handle media playback, audio routing, audio focus, and latency-related issues.
• Debug Bluetooth media/call flows including A2DP and HFP.
• Debug USB connectivity issues related to Android Auto projection and device communication.
• Work on Media3 / ExoPlayer, MediaSession, AudioManager, and AudioFocus handling.
• Support camera/video recording use cases using MediaCodec / MediaRecorder where required.
• Analyze crashes, ANRs, memory issues, UI lag, audio stutter, and system performance issues.
• Work with Android framework, BSP, HAL, QA, UI/UX, and product teams.
• Support vehicle-level testing, field issue debugging, and release validation.

• Strong Android development experience using Kotlin / Java.

• Hands-on experience with Media3 / ExoPlayer, MediaSession, AudioManager, AudioFocusRequest, AudioAttributes, and audio routing.
• Practical understanding of Bluetooth A2DP / HFP and USB device/accessory mode debugging.
• Strong debugging skills using ADB, logcat, dumpsys, bugreport, Perfetto, and systrace.
• Ability to debug audio latency, audio stutter, underruns, Bluetooth audio issues, Android Auto disconnects, USB enumeration failures, crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, and UI performance issues.
• Experience working on custom Android builds or embedded Android devices.
• Ability to understand logs from application, framework, and vendor layers.
• Good ownership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Product-Specific Required Skills
Since the role involves vehicle HMI and media-related features, the candidate should have experience or working knowledge in:
• MediaCodec and MediaRecorder.
• Audio-video synchronization.
• Video recording pipeline.
• File storage, playback handling, and media validation.
• Production-level debugging on embedded Android platforms.
